This year sees the 100 year anniversary of Everlast, an international name synonymous with
boxing and highly regarded as providing some of the highest quality equipment on the market. Back in 1910, the company was formed by Jacob Golomb, a keen swimmer who was disappointed with the low durability of the swimsuits on the market. At the time, swimsuits were not robust enough to last for a whole swimming season, and he undertook a project to manufacture a more durable costume that would survive a whole year of use.
The name Everlast was born, but it was not until 7 years later when Jacob became involved in the sport of boxing. Dismayed at the low lifespan of protective headgear which had to be replaced during a match, he was compelled to come up with a design that was durable enough to survive 15 rounds of heavyweight boxing. Today, 93 years on, and the company is one of the worlds most respected sports brand names and continues to produce high quality, resilient, boxing equipment selling in over 100 countries around the world.
Robust build quality, sturdy construction and broad functionality are all clearly evident in the Everlast heavy bag stand with adjustable speed bag platform. The stand features a solid 3 inch powder coated steel tube frame capable of supporting a 100lb heavy bag and withstanding the rigors of the heaviest kickboxing workout. The speed bag platform offers seven lockable positions, and a high speed ball bearing swivel.
At 7 feet high, the stand is not suitable for the longer Muay Thai bags however it copes well with a 5 foot bag.
The stand allows for full movement of the bag, and includes two straps to tie down the bag should movement wish to be restricted. To prevent rocking of the frame when in use, there are 4 custom designed floor plates to increase stability, and features and extra wide base for maximum support.
The stand is purchased flat packed for easier transportation however is easy to assemble with clear instructions and took next to no time to assemble. I decided to put the stand to the test straight away with my old 100lb heavy bag, and after a heavy 15-minute workout, with full strength punches low kicks and elbows, the stand held strong and barely rocked even with the hardest attack.
Whilst this was not the cheapest stand on the market, it is one of the most attractive. The Everlast heavy bag stand offers excellent build construction, and is up to the job. Whilst there is no doubt a premium added to the price for the brand name, you can be confident that the equipment is up to the task, complies with industry safety standards, and is built to last.
